Overview : Media Center for Pharmaceutical Sciences

In April 2008 Keio University and Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy merged to form the Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Media Center for Pharmaceutical Sciences (also known as the Shiba-Kyoritsu Pharmaceutical Library) opened as the sixth Keio Media Center at the newly established Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus. Though located in downtown Tokyo, the campus is surrounded by the greenery of the adjacent Shiba Park and Zojoji Temple.

The Media Center occupies the entire third floor and part of the fourth floor of Building 3, which was completed in 2000 and also houses laboratories and research facilities. The Reading Room on the third floor is directly accessible from the adjoining Building 1 (student facilities) and Building 2 (classrooms), placing it conveniently at the Center of campus life.

In keeping with the Faculty of Pharmacy’s goal of fostering pharmacists who are compassionate, have a strong background in science, and will lead their field into the future, the Center does not limit its collection to books and academic journals on the pharmaceutical sciences.

The materials and facilities at the Media Center for Pharmaceutical Sciences are used every day by large numbers of students, faculty, staff members and alumni. The Center hopes that the services and information it provides will help it to serve as a place that inspires a greater interest in pharmacy, more intensive study, new discoveries, and new interpersonal connections.
