For Keio Alumni

Alumni of Keio University may use our libraries. Here are the options for entering libraries:

Year-Round Entry Pass for Alumni

Fee: 1,000 yen
Valid until: March 31 of the academic year in which the entry pass is issued
Issued to: Any alumnus of Keio University
Valid at: Mita, Hiyoshi, Shinanomachi, Science & Technology and Shonan Fujisawa Media Centers
*Prior application is required when visiting the Media Center for Pharmaceutical Sciences or Kyoseikan Library.

Services Available:

  • Reading and photocopying
    *For Shinanomachi: No self-photocopying is available. Please talk to a librarian.
  • Requesting from Yamanaka Book Depository
  • Use of electronic journal titles provided for walk-in use
    *For Mita: You may access specific electronic journal titles from the designated PC on the 3rd floor; 500 yen for 30 minutes of use.
    *For Sci&Tech: You may ask a librarian for printouts of the articles included in the electronic journals; there are no PCs available to visitors and alumni.
  • Reference services

Issued at: Mita, Hiyoshi, Shinanomachi and Shonan Fujisawa Media Centers
Items Required for Issuance: Personal identification such as a driver's license or a health insurance card
*Fee would be waived if you have a Keio University Credit Card.
*In case of loss or damage of the entry pass, you need to pay another 1,000 yen to get a new one.

Library Membership Card for Alumni *only for those meeting certain criteria

Fee: 6,000 yen for 6-month, 12,000 yen for one-year membership
Valid for: 6 months or a year from the date of issue
Issued to: Keio alumni who meet either of the following requirements:

  • Those who currently work as faculty members, either full-time or part-time, at other universities, colleges or research institutes
  • Those who meet the doctoral degree requirements at Keio University, being expected to submit a doctoral dissertation within 3 years

Valid at: Mita, Hiyoshi, Shinanomachi, Science & Technology and Shonan Fujisawa Media Centers

Services Available:

  • Signing in to My Library on KOSMOS
  • Request items from other Keio University libraries where they have borrowing privileges at.
  • Requesting from Yamanaka Book Depository

Items Required for Issuance:

  • Personal identification such as a driver's license or a health insurance card
  • If you are a faculty member of other university or institution, you are required to bring your faculty ID issued at your workplace as well.
  • If you meet the doctoral degree requirements at Keio University, you are required to bring an application form with the signature of your supervising professor at Keio University. The application form is available at Main Counter on the 1st floor of Mita Media Center.
Services NOT Available to General Alumni
  • Requesting photocopies to send to your home
  • Requesting a letter of introduction
  • Use of campus network and PCs except for KOSMOS terminals and the designated PC for accessing electronic journals
  • Accessing databases and elecronic books that are licensed to Keio University

Entry Pass for a Specific Keio University Library

Mita Media Center (Keio University Library)

One-Day Entry Pass for Alumni
Fee: 100 yen
Valid for: The day of issue only
Issued to: Any alumnus of Keio University
Valid at: Mita Media Center only
Services Available: Same as round-year entry pass

Shinanomachi Media Center (Kitasato Memorial Medical Library)

Local Library Card
Fee: Free of charge
Issued to: Sanshikai members, Kobaikai members, Graduate School of Medicine alumni, Graduate School of Health Management Mita-kai members
Valid at: Shinanomachi Media Center and Library of Nursing and Medical Care only

Media Center for Science and Technology

Any researchers involved in science and technology field are welcome (only for research purposes).

Shonan Fujisawa Media Center

Local Library Card
Fee: 1,000 yen
Issued to: Any alumnus of Keio University
Valid at: Shonan Fujisawa Media Center only

Library of Nursing and Medical Care 

Local Library Card
Fee: Free of charge
Issued to: Kobaikai members, Graduate School of Health Management Mita-kai members, Sanshikai members, Graduate School of Medicine alumni
Valid at: Shinanomachi Media Center, Library of Nursing and Medical Care only

Kyoseikan Library

Kyoseikan Library does not require any entry pass or membership card. The alumni of Graduate Schools of Business Administration (KBS), System Design & Management (SDM), and Media Design (KMD) are required to bring their personal identification instead. The alumni of other graduate schools or faculties must apply in advance to the Hiyoshi Media Center for access, and bring their personal identification, "Year-Round Entry Pass for Alumni" or "Library Membership Card for Alumni".
