Keio University announced a $90,000 gift from Mrs. Ina Goodwin Tateuchi to Keio University Libraries.

Mrs. Ina Goodwin Tateuchi gifted a grant in honor of her late husband, Atsuhiko Tateuchi. Mr.Tateuchi graduated from the Faculty of Law of Keio University in 1963. He was successful as a businessman after graduating from the graduate school of the University of Washington in the United States. His business success paved the way for philanthropic endeavors, and Mr. and Mrs. Tateuchi established The Atsuhiko and Ina Goodwin Tateuchi Foundation, now located in Seattle. The foundation seeks to promote and improve international understanding, knowledge, and the quality of relations between Japan and the United States.

With the support of the Tateuchi Foundation, the University of Washington implemented the inviting Japanese librarians from 2016 to 2018, and Keio dispatched three librarians. We have planned the new exchange program that the librarians from both universities will visit each other and share their knowledge and expertise to improve library services and contribute to Japanese studies in the United States.

With this endowment, Keio University libraries, together with the Tateuchi East Asia Library of University of Washington, build a more rewarding exchange program for both libraries.
